Sherri has been honored for her work covering AIDS in the city of Birmingham. The National Association of Black Journalists honored her piece “AIDS from Alabama to Africa” with a national award. As a reporter, she is committed to telling the stories that have an impact on people’s lives through a series of special reports titled “Faith in Action.”
Sherri began the series after going on a mission trip to Arusha, Tanzania, and splitting from her mission team to cover the story of a missionary doctor in Bomet, Kenya, who claims she was miraculously healed after testing positive for HIV. In 2007, Sherri’s first Faith in Action story was inspired by what happened at Tenwek Hospital.
Sherri’s desire to give back to the community is motivated by her family. As a result, much of Sherri’s community involvement focuses on organizations that help families. She has served on the boards of several non-profit organizations that help women and children. Among them are The Foundry Ministries, the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center, and the Lawson State Community College Foundation.

Sherri is proud of her work at CB2 42, which has an impact on the lives of people in our community. She has worked on a number of special reports for CBS 42 that have won journalism awards. The 2014 EMMY award for “Hope and Honor: A Tribute to Four Girls” is her proudest achievement. The documentary follows the creation of the “Four Spirits” monument in Birmingham’s Kelly Ingram Park by sculptor Elizabeth MacQueen. She worked for WGXA-TV in Macon, GA, WSAV-TV in Savannah, GA, and WSAZ-TV in Charleston and Huntington, WV before relocating to Birmingham in 1998.
