Garrett works for CBS News as the Chief White House Correspondent. In addition, he is also a correspondent for the National Journal as well as a substitute anchor for “Face The Nation”. He was appointed as the Chief Washington correspondent in December 2018 and as a result, he reports for all CBS News broadcasts and platforms.
His career journey began in the 1990s where he started off as senior editor for U.S. News and World Report. He also worked for The Washington Times as a congressional reporter. Before starting his career in television, Garrett worked as a reporter for several magazines including The Houston Post, the Las Vegas Review-Journal, and Amarillo Globe-News.
In addition to having worked for numerous magazines, his articles have been featured in Mother Jones, The Weekly Standard, and the Washington Monthly. Garrett became part of CNN’s White House Team in the early 2000s. He assumed his role as a general assignment reporter and congressional correspondent for FOX News Channel in 2002.
