Kate also interned at WGAL in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. However, her last semester at JMU she interned for the local station in Harrisonburg, Virginia, WHSV, and brings to WMBF skills she learned from both stations.

She leads pitch meetings for story pitches with reporters. Merriman also assisted in the decision for what content is going to be covered for the week. She creates Packages, VoSOTs, and VOs for each newscast and also writes, Edit, Interviews.
In Kate’s free time you will find her out and about with her little pup Winnie, scouting out the best coffee shops or soaking up the sun on the beach.

Recently, she created her own YouTube Channel to get more comfortable in front of the camera in prep for her career goal of being a reporter. “Wake up With Kate” is a weekly Vlog that is posted on Wednesday morning with content ranging from behind-the-scenes of being a student anchor and reporter to taking viewers along her daily routine to get to know who she is.
