Jorge Ramos is an American journalist as well as an author. He is considered the best-known Spanish-language news anchor in the United States of America. In addition, Ramos has also been referred to as “The Walter Cronkite of Latin America”.

He is an anchor-based in Miami Florida and anchors the Univision news television program known as “Noticiero Univision”, the Fusion TV English-language program known as “America with Jorge Ramos”, and the Univision Sunday-morning political news program known as “Al Punto”.

Ramos has won eight Emmy Awards as well as the Maria Moors Cabot Prize for Excellence in Journalism. He has also covered five wars and events varying from the fall of the Berlin Wall to the War in Afghanistan. In addition, Ramos has been included on the list of ” The World’s Most Influential People” on Time magazine.

He left the job at the age of 24 after a story he produced that was censorious of Mexico’s government was deleted. Ramos left Mexico in 1983 on a student visa for Los Angeles where he planned to join the UCLA Extension’s journalism classes. He was hired by KMEX-TV in 1984 and an affiliate of what was then the Spanish International Network (SIN) in Los Angeles. After two years, Ramos became the host for KMEX’s morning program known as “Mundo Latino”. He then joined SIN’s national operation in 1987, which was rebranded as the Univision network.

Jorge Ramos Trump

The Univision anchor, Ramos stood up at the Iowa press event and attempted to ask Trump a question concerning the candidate’s controversial immigration proposals. Trump told him to sit down since he had not been called on. He then went ahead and told the anchor to go back to Univision.

As a result, Ramos refused to sit down and was later escorted out of the room by security personnel. Trump said that the security personnel had acted on their own without his consent which was something that Ramos disprove.

Ramos was detained by the Venezuelan government after an interview with President Nicolas Maduro at the time. He was detained at Venezuela’s presidential palace for almost three hours after President Maduros bristled over Ramos’ question. He was later released together with the Univision News television crew but their equipment and interview materials were taken.
