Dom Tiberi WBNS-TV Sports

Dom Tiberi is the weekday sports anchor of 10TV News HD and the co-host of Wall-to-Wall Sports, seen on weekends at 11:30 p.m. on 10TV. Tune in on any given day and Dom may be reporting on anything from the latest scoop on the Buckeyes to more offbeat stories of local athletes. He’s been seen on everything from water skis to racing sulkies.

He is most noted for his coverage of The Ohio State University.  He has a record of breaking stories on the Buckeyes before the competition even knows they exist. He has a proven record of getting timely interviews from the coaching staff and players through his daily work on that important sports beat.

The Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) awarded Dom with a Media Service Award for 2000-2001, and in 2002 he was awarded Press Award from the Greater Columbus Tennis Association. Tiberi joined WBNS-10TV in 1981. He graduated from St. Francis DeSales High School and then attended Otterbein College in Westerville, where he majored in Journalism and Public Relations.

While at Otterbein, Dom was actively involved in his college radio and TV station, as well as a member of the football team. At 10TV, Dom has won four Ohio Valley Emmys for his work. More recently, the Tiberi family was touched by tragedy as their 21-year-old daughter, Maria, was killed in an auto accident in September of 2013.

While she wasn’t texting, drinking, or eating at the time of the crash, the official cause was attributed to ‘distracted driving.’ In February of 2014, Tiberi, and WBNS-10TV launched “Maria’s Message,” a public service campaign created to educate teens about distracted driving.

Tiberi takes the campaign and his message into area high schools, telling the students what happened the night of the tragic crash, and encouraging defensive driving. The powerful presentation ends with students reciting “Maria’s Pledge”, and signing Maria’s Message pledge cards.

Tiberi’s efforts, coupled with the support of Ohio Senator, Jim Hughes, have secured legislation making September “Safe Driving Month” in Ohio, in memory of Maria Tiberi and all those lost during distracted driving accidents. Governor Kasich signed the legislation into law in June of 2014.

Dom Tiberi Pizza Recipe

Ingredients

2 1/2 cups Flour
2 1/4 tsp Yeast
2 tsp molasses
1 1/2 tsp Salt
1 cup warm Water
2 TBSP olive Oil

Directions:

In a bowl combine water, molasses and oil.
In a stand mixer combine dry products flour, yeast, and salt.
Turn mixer on low and add wet products.
Raise speed of mixer till thoroughly mixed.
Form into dough ball and put it in a floured bowl, cover and let rise.

Once it has risen, take the dough on a floured surface and begin spreading it out.
Use a floured rolling pin and roll to a thickness of choice. (I like mine thin)
Place dough on oiled pizza pan.

Spread sauce on the dough. Use a high-quality sauce … Bonta or Red Pack are good choices.
Cover with Cheese… I like a mixture of Mozzarella and Provolone 50-50
Add your toppings: There is nothing better in my book than pepperoni and Italian Sausage. Anything goes whatever you like!
Sprinkle Italian seasoning on top… a pinch of garlic powder and parmesan cheese.

Heat oven to 500 degrees… place pizza on the middle rack of the oven and check it every few minutes.
Once it is done on the top check the bottom and if it is brown remove it from the pan carefully and let it sit on the oven rack for just a couple more minutes. Remove it from the oven and enjoy!

Dom Tiberi Maria’s Message

Maria’s Message is a site dedicated to spreading the message about distracted driving to teens and adults across the country.  On September 17, 2013, 10TV sports anchor, Dom Tiberi, and his wife, Terri, lost their 21-year-old daughter, Maria, in a distracted driving accident. The investigation showed that she wasn’t drinking, talking on the phone, or texting. The official cause remains “unknown distraction.”

Determined not to let Maria become another statistic, Tiberi, his wife, children Kelsey and Dominic, and WBNS-10TV have teamed up to create “Maria’s Message.” The purpose of the community campaign is to educate our young drivers (15-22) on the dangers of distracted driving, while promoting defensive driving.
